Drives in Action

Graham
Stack

Graham Stack has written and produced songs for many world-famous artists, including Take That, LeAnn Rimes, JLS, Tina Turner and Kylie Minogue. He is also a music producer on the highly popular British television show, X Factor.

"Producing music for the X Factor means time
is very precious. Thankfully the G-Technology
drives stood up to the task perfectly."

The X Factor bubble

Graham Stack brings a new meaning to the phrase 'sleep is for the weak'. As a music producer for the hit television show, X Factor, he worked almost continuously for ten weeks, with little rest, recording over 60 songs.

Working alongside Matt Furmidge and the rest of the Metrophonic team, Graham's role on series seven of the show saw him produce tracks for the Cheryl Cole mentored girls' category.

For the first time ever on the X Factor, all of the songs performed were available for download on iTunes hours after every live show. This meant that tracks had to be completed in time for the live shows on a Saturday night, heard by millions of X Factor fans, and then available to download from iTunes later the same evening.

For computers I rely on a 17" Macbook Pro with my trusty G-Tech drives, and back in the office I have a 27" iMac with Adobe CS5. I also swear by Media Pro by capture one for the image selection process. As far as drives are concerned, I run a G-Safe unit for archiving, as well as a G-Speed Q for work in progress."

Mike has been using a G-SAFE for the past two years to keep his archived shoots secure, while on location he has been using the G-DRIVE mini, and more recently the ultra-slim G-DRIVE mobile.

"I give my kit a pretty hard time. Travelling and boats (not to mention saltwater) can take their toll on equipment, but I swear by my G-Tech drives, which have never let me down, even in some tough situations." His association with Sony over the last three years has led Mike to embrace shooting and editing video. For this he has opted for a G-Speed Q to use for his media storage and editing.

"My clients ask the best of me, and I have to trust the tools I work with."
